Design Philosophy

Founded in 1983, GAYNOR, Inc. is a cutting-edge landscape architectural practice dedicated to:

▲  Create artistic and engaging places for people
  ▲  Restore healthy environments
  ▲  Promote sustainable, ecologically-based design
▲  Enhance awareness and balance between people and nature
▲  Integrate landscape architecture, engineering, ecology, art and music
▲  Excel in concept, content and successful completion of every project

Peggy Gaynor, FASLA, is the firm’s founder, president and a pioneer in landscape architecture. Peggy combines her art, classical music and science training with a degree in landscape architecture to create experimental and multi-faceted designs for ecosystems, public and private works, and art. She and her firm are known for working with communities and seeking out opportunities to generate inventive and ecologically-sensitive design and art, often collaborating directly with schools and neighborhoods to conceive and build sustainable community-based projects.

Ultimately, Peggy and her firm are intrigued with the sociological and psychological effects of environments, art and sensory stimuli on people, particularly as instruments for reawakening connections with nature, oneself and others. This philosophical approach – a fusion of arts, sciences and humanities – results in exceptional design, engaging and distinctive places, and extraordinary art and ecosystems cherished by communities.
